ContentCube is inspireFly's first orbital mission - a 1U CubeSat designed to test an OLED screen in space by capturing a 'selfie' featuring Earth and a live electronic display. Once deployed from the International Space Station via the NanoRacks deployer, ContentCube will connect with the Virginia Tech Ground Station to establish connection, display pre-downloaded images on the display screen, take a 'selfie in space' and relay the image back to the ground station.
ContentCube explores future applications of OLEDs in space, from health-monitoring wearables for astronauts to external spacecraft displays. Developed in less than a year on a limited budget, this innovative project represents Virginia Tech's first entirely student-led payload to reach orbit, demonstrating that with enough resolve, anything is achievable.
